Old Business -
A. Lifestyle Essentials’ Monthly Report - as noted in the packet
B. WeTHRIVE - Community Action Plan
  • There is a recognition program in December, at which the village will receive its 1 year Thriving for 1 year sticker. The December program will allow Evendale to gain and share ideas; explore collaborative opportunities with other communities; as well as giving feedback to the county about the program and the process.
  • The village has already met all of its required points for the year. Three items are already completed for year 2. Mary Ellen recommends we update our action plan as we go and check off items from our action plan as we complete them.
  • She will be sending out a survey shortly to review the process so far.
Director’s Report -
  • David and Michele Gottschlich are attending a meeting this afternoon regarding grant monies for development within the Bike and Pedestrian Master Plan.
  • Kim Pielage compiled a listing of programs offered to our various age groups. Compared to surrounding communities we offer the same, or more, program opportunities to our patrons.
  • Facility and fitness membership demographic data shows over 50% of the Evendale households have one of these two types of memberships (pool only, tennis only, and racquetball only memberships were not reviewed).
  • The concert last Saturday had a good crowd. The food truck vendor always seemed to have a line of people waiting to order.
Phi Lambda Pi Report -
  • Open houses have included four-square, sand volleyball, kickball, soccer, and chalk art.
  • There has been an average of twenty members attending each week.
  • The concession stand at the pool is open and doing well.
  • July 4th is coming up; preparations will be in full swing shortly.
  • The junior classmen are all recruiting the current 7th graders; encouraging the 7th graders to join Phi next year.
Open Discussion -
  • Air Care was very interesting to see at the Chamber’s Annual Chili Lunch.
  • Tricia Watts, the new director of Gorman Heritage Farm will be invited to the next commission meeting. The farm has several upcoming events.
  • Hoxworth Blood Center will be at the Recreation Center on July 9th accepting blood donations.
  • Tennis programs are going well. Weather has been effecting some programs.
  • The lightning prediction system has been helpful to Department operations. To clear outdoor areas, staff will use the prediction system, and/or if they see lightning.
  • Both spas are up and running after their winter and spring repairs.
Meeting adjourned at 8:20am.
